The History . . . The Followers of Christ was founded in 1986 by the late Evangelist Bertha Lee. God’s vision at that time was to start a church on wheels. The ministry held regular church services in senior nursing homes and youth group homes. From 1986 – 1990 the ministry was serving over eight senior nursing homes and one youth group home. The ministry also taught future leaders of the church, and offered training seminars and teachings on ministry work. Over eight people were licensed as Ministers or Missionaries under the ministry. However, each year, the people came together to present The Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Give-a-way. This outreach has increased from serving 50 families to receiving over 1000 requests each year.
In 1996, the Lord commissioned, then, Evangelist Doreen Momans to revive the ministry for Kingdom work. After months of filings and reinstating the ministry to city and state regulations, the ministry was now ready to operate for the Glory of God. As Evangelist Momans sought the Lord for His plan and mission for the ministry, God began to reveal the vision.
The Vision . . . The Followers of Christ International Outreach is to be a light for the community so that those who are lost can find their way. Our first priority is to minister
the Good News to a dying and lost world, and to disciple them so that they themselves can go out and share the Good News of Jesus Christ with others. God called the Followers of Christ Int. Outreach to an Apostolic Anointing of “Change.” God have called this church to the Ministry of Change. Change in ones lifestyle, change in ones way of thinking, change to life of holiness. Our new ministry called “Fresh Start Faith Outreach” is designed to help homeless, low income and Christian inmates to have a place to stay for no more than two years, so that they could learn how to become self-sufficient and a productive person in society. This is still being birth.
Our Mission . . . To equip Christians for the work of the ministry, in the unity of the faith and knowledge of the Son of God. Increasing the Kingdom of God.
Our Commitment . . . The Followers of Christ International Outreach are committed to:
Preaching The Good News
The life of Holiness
Living a life of Love
Praise and Worship
Living by the Holy Spirit
Obedience to God’s word
Motto . . . Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow me. Mark 8:34
